Summary
Do you agree that stories are literally all around us?? This workshop will be one of supervised exploration from finding your own story to capture and reinterpret it through drawing into the shape and form of a book.
Participants will try out drawing techniques that will help them quickly capture the world around them and create a coherent story through a series of sequential drawings. Workshop will be guided by Tom Zahrádka, a storyteller and lecturer.
Learning objectives
Workshop participants will discover:
Fundamentals of drawing and storytelling
How to create stories through play and association
What to bring
3 sheets of paper A3 size (weight 150 g/m2 and above recommended)
Your favourite drawing/writing tools (eg. pen, pencil, markers, watercolours, … )
Clipboard A4 size or bigger
About the instructor
Tom Zahrádka is a writer, illustrator and founder of Urban Sketchers Prague. Tom studied script writing and Authorial acting with professor Ivan Vyskočil at DAMU. His children book Dědeček was nominated for Czech literature award Magnesia Litera. He lectured courses for kids in animation and on how to draw comics in Aeroškola and Post Bellum and organised dozens of illustration workshops for people of all age. His work was published in several magazines and books.
